2026 Government Scholarship Program for Foreign Graduate Students (GKS) Announcement

The National Institute for International Education (NIIED), an agency under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea, recruits government-sponsored foreign graduate students annually to foster outstanding international talents and promote educational exchange between countries. Our embassy (Cultural Center) will be recruiting scholarship students for graduate programs in Korea for Belgian nationals, and we encourage your active participation for GKS program.

1. Number of Scholarships

ㅇ General Program (Master’s and Doctoral): 5 people

2. Scholarship Duration(General Program):

ㅇ Master's Program: 3 years total (1 year Korean language training, 2 years degree program)

     - Doctoral Program: 4 years total (1 year Korean language training, 3 years degree program)

5. Application Process

ㅇ 1st Round of Selection (Embassy) Application Deadline: By Wednesday 25 February, 2025

ㅇ 1st Round of Selection (Embassy) Evaluation: By Monday 16 March, 2026 (Result Announcement)

ㅇ 2nd Round of Selection (NIIED) Document Submission: By Wednesday 1 April, 2026 (Arrive at NIIED)

ㅇ 2nd Round of Selection (NIIED) Evaluation: By early May (Result Announcement)

ㅇ 3rd Round of Selection (University): By Friday 5 June, 2026 (Result Announcement)

ㅇ Announcement of Final Successful Candidates(NIIED): Expected by Tuesday 30 June, 2026
